Let’s skip the small talk,

It’s a spiritual thing when I go back to Houston, the hometown. It’s always a good time to hit the reset button.

I do some of my clearest thinking when it’s 90 degrees and humid outside. Weird, but whatever, that’s me.

We shared a preview of what’s to come later this year to our platform community. The product updates we are going to ship will change how athletes and their teams do business forever :)

Please Welcome Terron Armstead to the Athletes & Assets™ Community

5x NFL Pro Bowler and All-Pro Offensive Tackle Terron “T-Stead” Armstead just announced his retirement from the league. Congrats on an incredible career T!

But what’s next? Well, we went out Plano, Texas to learn about investments Terron has already made, why it’s important for him to build deep relationships with the founders he meets, and more.

It’s clear that the guys who take one extra step to meet the founders of products they enjoy during their playing careers set themselves up better for retirement.

OUTLIERS

Outliers meet outliers

My biggest takeaway from our episode with Terron is that his relationship with Michelle McBride, Founder/CEO of GoodSport is not a coincidence. Both are outliers in their own way.

Terron was a relatively small name coming out of University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, but defied the odds to have an arguably Hall of Fame-like career. Michelle’s idea of GoodSport started from her son’s baseball game, went to the Center of Dairy and Research in Wisconsin, is now in select Walmarts & Costcos and becoming one of the fastest growing sports brands in America!

The best find the best. It doesn’t matter if Terron never saw Michelle in the same weight room, or in Foxboro trying to sack Tua. They both had to scrap and claw to get where they are today. You can sense that in a person; athletes do whenever they meet founders. And it’s true for many other cases—outliers meets outliers.

EAZEWELL

Shoutout to Russ and team for the launch and collab

Russell Westbrook and Kemba Walker just launched EazeWell, an AI-enabled funeral planning and facilitation platform co-founded by Donnell Beverly Jr. (a former NCAA National Champion at UConn).

Eazewell’s platform uses AI to autonomously handle the difficult funeral and administrative tasks that burden people during early grief; paperwork, affordable burial, cremation services, financing, practical planning, etc.

Their own experiences with loss led the team to create a better approach for grieving families, one that provides compassionate assistance that many wish they had available to them.

Amazing launch and wishing these guys the best of success. We’re happy to amplify their journey.
